smlink 2.9.6 + kernel-2.6.3-gentoo-r1 == Freeze

Sorry for English.

I've tried for several days after I upgrade my kernel from 2.4.24 to 2.6.3.

I download the latest slmodem-2.9.6 from ftp.smlink.com
and then ./configure, make, make install

I use kppp to dial, and it works for a few minutes, then the system is freezed!

Any suggestion will be appreciated.
