Don't use any web browsers, nor downloader managers.  Use a true FTP client program such as gftp, lftp etc, then you can download the whole DVD image.

However, the bandwidth on the remote server is rather limited.  It only gives me 30kB/s max.  It tells me I need more than 40 hours to download the whole DVD image and I eventually give up after 200MB!

Tips:

1. Like Kanotix, since version 3.9, Knoppix also support booting from external USB devices by the use of bootusb2 boot option. i.e. you can start knoppix from ext. USB CDROM/DVD by:

knoppix bootusb2

This cheatcode is backported from Kanotix and is un-documented, so you cannot find it in the cheatcodes.txt file.

2. The DVD come with Chinese support, simply use the lang=cn or lang=tw boot option.

Therefore, to start Knoppix from external USB DVDRom drive with Chinese support, you can use:

knoppix bootusb2 lang=cn

BTW, I find the compiler symlinks are strange in the DVD version.

In this DVD, both gcc-3.3.6 and gcc-4.0.1 are available.  However, gcc is linked to gcc-3.3.6 but g++ is linked to g++-4.0.1.  Is this a bug?  :ask
